Blitz Bowl: Building a Stadium / Pitch - Finished! (Part III)

This my final version of a 3D Blitz Bowl pitch. It is based on the original gaming board and the game itself a simpler version of good old Blood Bowl. I gave posters, banners and floor writing a try, but it didn't work out and therefore I kept the pitch simple.

Here are two possible versions of the pitch with two trap doors. The pillars are also moveable, so the games shouldn't get boring too fast. In any case, I am thrilled for the first games.

And now it is time to zoom in and give it a better look...

Blitz Bowl: Building a Stadium / Pitch - Part II

After the initial preparations of Part One everything was ready to be glued together and to get a black primer on it. For more details, I also bought some barrels, chests and also made two ladders from toothpicks and wooden sticks.

Looks good so far...

Blitz Bowl: Building a Stadium / Pitch - Part I

Blitz Bowl is such a cool game and that's why I want to build a stadium for it. Here is a rough sketch of how the stadium will look like. I'll try to create a dungeon pit in which the teams battle each other.

My first attempt on the stone walls was not too convincing. Therefore, I tried something different... Cutting styrofoam, grinding/shaking with real stones and there you have perfect little foam rocks for the walls.

Then I went to a DIY store and bought a wooden crate. Except for the height, the crate has just the right size (60 x 40 cm). After some hard work and sweat, I could also correct that (from 24 cm to 8 cm). Then I started to glue the tiles on the ground...

Next up are the stone walls...

A little time off

I went off the grid for a few weeks and travelled to Japan (again). I had a wonderful time there, visited a lot of places and met nice people. But that's not all! I also bought some nice models (Space Marine Heroes Series 2) and tools...

Blitz Bowl: Ostermark Juggernauts - Blitzer, Catcher, Thrower

Here comes the second half of my Human Blitz Bowl Team. And with them, the team is already finished. Next up is the Orc Team and something bigger...

Blitz Bowl: Ostermark Juggernauts - Linemen

Sometimes it is good to give new things a try. So, after a friend introduced me to Blitz Bowl last year, I bought a boxed set and started painting. Here is the first half of my human team the "Ostermark Juggernauts". The game is a simpler, faster version of good old Blood Bowl and I have bigger plans for it going...

Iron Hands: Land Raider Prometheus

This little tank stood unpainted on my shelf for about one and a half year. Because at the time the Primaris Marines emerged I lost interest in my "normal" Iron Hands to be honest. I deemed them to be dead fluff-wise sooner or later.
Yesterday I played a fun game versus Synaptic_Lynchpin and his Tyranids [Visit here for some photos]. Therefore I painted my sleeping beauty and made her ready for battle. Hope you like her:

Throne of Judgement - Inquisitor Karamazov

There are some models which really transport the whole dystopian/over the top medieval/gothic atmosphere of Warhammer 40.000. One of it for me is Inquisitor Karamazov on his Throne of Judgement. The original model is already pretty nice, but I felt I could push it a little bit further.
Therefore, I swapped the dreadnought legs for the spider legs of an Onager Dunecrawler and added three footsloggers (Cenobyte Servitors from Black Templars Chaplain Grimaldus) an a little servo-skull.

The conversion and the painting took a while and I needed some tries. For example, at first I wanted to use some feudal Imperial Guard soldiers to accompany the inquisitor, but in the end, I used the servitors. For the base, I had something different in mind, too... Try and error. :D

Desert Gaming Board - Necron Terrain Idea

A friend of mine gave me some advertisement giveaways in the shape of pyramids. As soon as I saw them an idea come up how I could use at least one of them. I had an old wooden miniature plinth lying around and glued one of the pyramids on it. Then I used different mixtures of GW Incubi Darkness and Kabalite Green to paint it and finally put some old Necron decals on it and voilà!

Talons of the Emperah: Custodes Tribune Ixion Hale

This guy was lying around unpainted for some time. Next week some friends and I are going to play another big game and therefore I needed a Shield Captain. Well, it might be a huge career setback for Ixion Hale but this way I had a reason to paint this wonderful model. I hope you like it and he does a good job on the gaming table.

Talons of the Emperah: Legio Custodes Coronus Grav-Carrier

Finally, this flying brick is ready for battle. I would lie if I say it was fun to paint and there are some areas I have to go back to. This depends mainly on its performance on the battlefield...
