Rekindling the Flames: A Return to my Sisters of Battle Project

Every hobbyist has a project that holds a special place in their heart. For me, that project is my Sisters of Battle army, a force that has seen no real battles yet. Join me on this journey as I dust off my old Sisters of Battle project, reignite the passion, and breathe new life into these warriors of faith.

While revisiting the project, I also discuss the challenge of expanding the Sisters of Battle force regarding the 5th edition and the White Dwarf codex of that time. It's a strategic endeavour that adds a layer of excitement to the revitalization process.

While the new plastic miniatures reign supreme, my heart remains steadfastly devoted to the charm and character of old metal miniatures. I plan to get a 1.000 point army ready for battle within the next few days. There are only a handful of models missing. In the next step you will expand my army to 1.500 points.

Here are ten newly painted Sisters of Battle joining the battle:

Back to the Future... of 5th Edition!

A casual player like myself cannot keep up the pace like GW has pumped out so many new books and editions lately. And to be honest, I do not want to spend 45€ for each army every three years for the codices alone!

At first, I thought about playing 2nd edition 40k, but some of the newer factions were not present at the time as they were later on. The unit choices/datafaxes were pretty limited, too.
Sure, the 5th edition isn`t perfect, but it is a concluded system and will always stay this way. The rules will not change any further! We`ll see how it will work out.

I look forward to playing my next games and painting some miniatures! In fact I`v already played two small games (40k in 40 minutes) with my son using the 5th edition ruleset... I'm hyped!

Tabletop Flea Market in Cologne

Last Sunday, I went to my first tabletop flea market ever. It was held in a store called "TopTables" in Cologne. Albeit its limited size, I landed some good deals and had inspiring hobby conversations. There was so much good old stuff everyone wanted to get rid off, which made me somehow sad at the same time.

That made me think about the good old days. I had so much fun with the 5th edition of 40k and played it by for the most. Therefore, I want to give it another go with my son. I could not bring myself to introduce him to the current rules. Everything still feels so complicated and bloated, even though it has become better since the 9th edition. Right now, I am getting back to studying the old rulebook and codices and will report more later on.

[Adeptus Titanicus] 2nd Slaanesh Reaver Battle Titan

Here comes my second Slaanesh Reaver Battle Titan. It is armed with a Chainfist, a Powerfist in the form of a demonic claw and an Apocalypse Missile Launcher.

After I have looked a little more into the special rules of the Legios, I've decided to play my Slaanesh titans as Legio Vulpa. This Legion is just too good when it comes to melee combat. In terms of the colour scheme, they don't differ all that much.

Man Cave Decorations

I am in my 40s now. The older I get, the more I am drawn to my teenage years. That is to say, the mid 90s of the last century. Sadly, I have sold most of my old toys and other stuff many years ago or trew it away. To be able to reconnect with this era, I`ve started to buy older toys and collectibles. Some of it is on display in my man cave. It brings me joy be surrounded by and to look at this stuff, even though most of it is empty.

Collages of all the 1st and 2nd series box art from Dino Riders.

[Adeptus Titanicus] CERASTUS KNIGHTS ACHERON & CASTIGATOR

After finishing the big Warhound, it was time to paint some smaller Knights. So I went for some Cerastus Knights from House Coldshroud.

Adeptus Printicus: Lucius Pattern Warhound Titan

Two months ago, I bought my first 3D printer - an Elegoo 3 Neptune Pro for about 220 Euros. Since then, I have printed many things I will show in later updates. My most recent project was a Lucius Pattern Warhound Titan.

You can find the needed STL-File for free in the internet. It took a few days to print everything and get it ready to paint. You can clearly see that it is a printed modell on closer inspection. But on the tabletop it comes close enough to the original. And to be honest, I don't really care. The old model is out of production for years now and the most recent incarnation is much too expensive (about 600 Euros!).

The warhound has been painted in the Legio Gryphonicus colour scheme, just like my loyal Adeptus Titanicus models. I hope you like it!?

[Adeptus Titanicus] Slaanesh Warlord Titan

I finished this Slaanesh Warlord Titan some time ago. It is not so much mutated like its little brothers. I guess it takes longer on this big fellow. The banner is printed and not a freehand.

[Adeptus Titanicus] Slaanesh Warhound Titans

Here are three slightly converted Worhound Titans for my Slaanesh Titan Legio. I hope you like them.

Inauguration of the Man Cave

Today two friends came by and we played one and a half big games with Imperial Knights vs. Tyranids.

It was a lot of fun. Thank you Funky_Biber and Captain_Valerius!
